Canada-Japan Interparliamentary Group 20th Bilateral Meeting in Japan

Canada and Japan’s delegations examined three big issues:

Trade: Despite the uncertainty from President Trump’s decision not ratify the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Canada and Japan should still focus on free and fair trade by other means.

Energy: Canada is able to help with Japan’s energy needs, whether through the export of oil and liquefied natural gas or by way of Canadian innovations in green technologies.

Peace and Security: Canada and Japan — which share common values of democracy, rule of law and human rights — should strengthen cooperative efforts in peace-keeping, nuclear non-proliferation and disaster response.
